Video Storage
If you are like most people, your house is full of video storage racks that are overfilled with recordings and purchased videos, most of which are outdated and have been replaced with a DVD also in your collection. However, those only home videos can’t be replaced, and video storage of these units is important so that memories aren’t lost by age, wear, and tear. What are some options for preserving these precious moments to cherish for a lifetime?
Most people have a video storage cabinet (or several!) full of home movies that they have recorded over the years. Video storage space, however, tends to run out quickly, and you only have so many places in your home for video storage cabinets. You don’t want to banish your collection to video storage boxes in the attic, basement, or storage shed for fear that the elements will cause damage to these important memories, but you don’t have any more room for audio and video storage on shelves in the home.
New technology has been introduced by way of DVD recorders with VCRs incorporated into the unit so that you can transfer your data to another source that will take up less space and allow you to better preserve your videos. Transfer your family movies to DVD and save in a CD and video storage unit in a fraction of the space. Video storage systems can obviously hold multiple times the number of discs as videotapes, allowing you to store more in the same volume.
Even better, there are ways to transfer both videotape and DVD recordings to your computer, where you can either store the information on your hard drive or take advantage of online video storage. Some of this is free video storage space, while others are paid for, like a website. However, either way, you’ll have unlimited space in which to store your most beloved home movies without taking up any shelf space at all. Also, you won’t have to worry about further degradation of the film because once it is digitalized, the images never fade or become old. It is like immortalizing your precious footage forever.
With so many options now available for digital storage of your old home movies, there is no need to let old videotapes keep piling up and taking up precious space in your home. Transfer them to digital files and then banish them to storage space, never worrying that your only copy will be destroyed.
