Film Camera Brands
With all the digital cameras flooding the market, it might become difficult for you to sort out the film camera brands that still exist and choose one that is appropriate for what you need and want. While some manufacturers have turned away from the production of film cameras in the western world, others continue to produce high quality film cameras for consumers who prefer this older style of preserving memories.
In the past, Kodak has probably been the most recognizable brand of film camera that provided trusted quality in photo development. However, in the current market, Kodak has decided to only continue production of loadable film cameras in countries where technology is not as advanced (Eastern Europe and much of Asia). In the western world, Kodak will be concentrating on disposables and digital cameras, knocking them out of the competitive loop.
In typical point and click camera options, Fuji film cameras are great alternatives. Long the top rival of Kodak in film manufacturing, Fuji produces fine quality cameras as well, which won’t break the bank. Vivitar, as well, has been a well known producer of long lasting film cameras that get the job done and are user friendly. The output of these cameras has also been outstanding, with clarity and crisp images being developed from Vivitar cameras.
Canon, one of the leading manufacturers of digital cameras, also has some excellent point and shoot film cameras, although for true quality, you’ll want to look at their line of SLR film cameras, real rivals for the Nikon family with much lower prices for the same features and standards of quality. Nikon and Olympus are both top competitors in the field of SLR film cameras, though Canon still blows both out of the water in terms of a great deal on price. Sony, too, continues to maintain a strong presence in the SLR film camera family, with quite a bit of success. Though not as inexpensive an option as Canon, these cameras still often come in under the cost of Nikon and Olympus.
Whether you choose to stay with film cameras because you don’t like change and don’t want to deal with new technology, or because you prefer the versatility of the SLR cameras without paying the price of the new digital SLR models, you can find great film cameras still available under many different brand names, allowing you to pick your preference.
